چکیده

We investigate, using a multi-fluid approach, the main properties of standing ion-acoustic modes driven by nonlinear Alfv\'en waves. The character Alfv\'enic pump is because we study superposition two identical circularly polarised counter-propagating consider parallel propagation along constant magnetic field and find that left right-handed generate via ponderomotive forces second harmonic demonstrate parametric instabilities are not relevant in present problem secondary waves attenuate Landau damping absence any other dissipative process. Transient motion of finite amplitude standing waves in acoustic resonators

Extraordinarily high maximum-to-minimum gas pressure ratios appear in an oscillating closed resonator at its resonance frequency for certain resonator shapes. Using a quasi-onedimensionalmodel based on the compressibleNavier–Stokes equations and a finite volume method, we investigate the transient motion of a fluid inside oscillating axisymmetric tubes, from the quiescent condition to the perio...

Nonlinear excitation of acoustic modes by large-amplitude Alfvén waves in a laboratory plasma.

The nonlinear three-wave interaction process at the heart of the parametric decay process is studied by launching counterpropagating Alfvén waves from antennas placed at either end of the Large Plasma Device. A resonance in the beat wave response produced by the two launched Alfvén waves is observed and is identified as a damped ion acoustic mode based on the measured dispersion relation. Other...

Footpoint excitation of standing acoustic waves in coronal loops

A new theoretical model for the study of slow standing sausage mode oscillations in hot (T > 6 MK) active region coronal loops is presented. These oscillations are observed by the SUMER spectrometer on board the SoHO satellite. The model contains the transition region and the upper chromosphere which enables us to study the entire process of hot loop oscillations – from the impulsive footpoint ...

Ion Pickup by Finite Amplitude Parallel Propagating Alfvén Waves

Two scenarios of possible ion heating due to finite amplitude parallel propagating Alfvén waves in the solar atmosphere are investigated using a 1D test particle approach. 1. A finite amplitude Alfvén wave is instantly introduced into a plasma (or equivalently, new ions are instantly created). 2. New ions are constantly created. In both scenarios, ions will be picked up by the Alfvén wave. In c...

Aligning Nanowires by Standing Surface Acoustic Waves

We present a standing surface acoustic wave (SSAW) based approach to achieve one-dimensional (1D) and two-dimensional (2D) alignment of nanowires (NWs). Our SSAW-based nanowire-aligning technique can be used to construct large-scale (e.g., centimeter scale) network of nanowires within 5 min. In this approach, we use interdigital transducers deposited on a piezoelectric substrate to generate dif...
